Forgiveness

Ah, how wonderful it is!  Behold a beautiful line from the pamphlet "Let Virtue Garnish Thy Thoughts."

If you have tried to quit pornography but have been unsuccessful, you may feel discouraged. Satan will try to exploit your discouragement by attempting to convince you that you cannot stop or that the Atonement does not apply to you. These are lies. Because of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, you can repent and change. The Lord promised that “though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18).

I'm not recovering from a pornography addiction, but the principle is still true and beautiful. Oftentimes I'm discouraged because my weaknesses seem never ending.

But let's not forget the countless testimonies of God's power to make us gloriously happy as we change for the better.

Now, as my mind caught hold upon this thought, I cried within my heart: O Jesus, thou Son of God, have mercy on me, who am in the gall of bitterness, and am encircled about by the everlasting chains of death. And now, behold, when I thought this, I could remember my pains no more; yea, I was harrowed up by the memory of my sins no more. And oh, what joy, and what marvelous light I did behold; yea, my soul was filled with joy as exceeding as was my pain!

Alma 36: 18-20

And I, Enos, knew that God could not lie; wherefore, my guilt was swept away.

Enos 1:6

REMEMBER:

Satan is in the business of discouragement. If he tells you lies about your future potential, ignore that! Believe that you can be gloriously, eternally happy and strong forever.
